Events Management
Verve 2020

Verve Instagram post: Introduction to Verve 2020 programmes committee
In 2020, I was part of the programmes committee for Verve - an annual community arts festival organised by second year Arts Business Management students at Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP). I was involved in the planning and execution of two Verve programmes - NP 360 Arts Fiesta and Get heard through Tenacity!
What I did:
-
Brainstormed online programme and activity ideas
-
Sourced for and reached out to art groups and organisations to collaborate with them
-
Planned and prepared the logistics needed for the programmes such as 360 degree cameras, dance studios, etc
-
Produced five 360 degrees performance videos
-
Assisted in the sound control for Get Hear through Tenacity! recording sessions as the assistant producer
Scroll through the Verve 2020 webpage to watch the 360 degrees performances performed by NP CCAs!
What I Learnt:
To be engaging with art organisations in the industry as an arts manager for the first time was an eye-opening to me. I learnt how to integrate the artistic style of the artists into the Verve programmes, creating a unique experience for the audiences.
I also learnt how to handle equipment with care as the tripod and camera are being rotated between 5 NP CCAs and there is a high possibility of causing wear and tear while using the equipment.
I managed to enhance my video editing skills while producing high quality interactive 360 degrees performance videos.
Oh Verve Drive 2020 - YES! factor
Oh Verve Drive is the fundraiser event for the Verve 2020. Together with a team of 5, I co-organised a talent competition named YES! Factor targetted at students of Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
What I did:
-
Conceptualised and executed the flow of the entire talent competition
-
Came up with the judging rubrics for the the competition
-
Crafted email invitation to invite Ngee Ann Polytechnic lecturers as judges of YES! Factor
-
Organised the judging session and took notes of the judges comments and score
-
Collateral design was split amongst the team, I designed 2 out of 14 of the social media posts
What I learnt:
-
Liaison skills
-
Improved design production skills

D3 Contemporary Dance Club

D3's 9th Committee
(2020 - 2021)
I am honoured to be given the opportunity to lead the 9th committee of D3 Contemporary Dance Club. As the president, one of my main roles was to ensure that the club and events planned are run smoothly by liaising with advisors from the Student Development Office as well as the exco members of other CCAs.
As the first point of contact for the members, instructors and the school advisors, I often have to schedule meetings and create meeting agendas. During my presidency, I ensured that the club standard and discipline is maintained by creating an engaging yet educative virtual lesson plan together with my instructors and committee members. I have also overseen the planning and execution of several events such as the annual auditions, internal dance competition - Resolute, freshie induction and Annual General Meeting.
What I did:
Organised and executed the annual internal dance competition, R3solute.sg, within three months in 2021.
Challenge faced:
Due to COVID-19, the competition could not be held physically and safety measures had to be adhered to.
Solution:
My committee decided to hold the competition online, whereby dancers are to showcase their items in the form of a short video film. With that, we also included a Video Production Award to encourage more members to participate in the competition.

What I Learnt:
As I was involved in the behind the scenes of a dance production, I gain valuable knowledge on events management in the performing arts, specifically the dance sector.
I managed to better my liaison skills as I was in charge of communicating with the club advisor from the Student Development Office to ensure a smooth planning of the competition.
As there were many deadlines to be met, I learnt the importance of coming up with a to-do-list and timeline of events so as to track the progress of the tasks assigned to the committee members and ensure that deadlines are met.
