Zapin Dance Exhibition Outreach Activity

Conceptualization:
Researched on the relevant information about the target audience (Ngee Ann Polytechnic community) and the various local traditional dance forms.
Brainstormed appropriate outreach activity ideas
Execution:
Gathered the logistics needed for the exhibition and outreach activity (e.g. booth decoration materials, activity materials such as ribbons, writing materials and glue sticks)
Designed and managed the layout of the exhibition booth

What I did:
Having to learn about the current engagement activities in dance exhibitions, I came up with the idea of incorporating bookmarks in the outreach activity whereby participants would match the costumes and headwear of the Zapin dancer on the bookmark, only after answering the questions related to Zapin dance correctly.
I was in charge of designing the infographics for the origins of Zapin dance and crafting questions for the outreach activity. During the day of exhibition, I also facilitated the execution of outreach activity by explaining the instructions and information of the dance form in a clear and friendly manner.
As the leader of the team, I made sure to assign the tasks equally according to each member's strengths, so as to ensure that all members contribute to the project.
Outreach activity was well received by the Ngee Ann Polytechnic community. Lecturer comments: Bookmark is a good takeaway for the participants and the posters have good coverage of the origins of Zapin dance.

What I Learnt:
